Palestine Approached The Security Council For Full Membership In The United Nations

To obtain full membership in the United Nations, Palestine applied to the Security Council. Thursday in New York, the Palestinian Ambassador to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, stated that our side is maintaining good faith throughout the negotiation process with all members of the Security Council. It is important to note that to become a full member of the United Nations, one must first receive the permission of the Security Council. In the past, the United States has voiced opposition to Palestine gaining full membership in the United Nations; nevertheless, the Palestinian leadership has recently communicated with the United States over this issue.
